VIDEO / The tragic accident that took the lives of Diogo Jota and his brother – footage from the crash site is published

Spanish media have released footage from the scene of the tragic accident that claimed the lives of Liverpool footballer Diogo Jota and his brother, André Felipe.

The 28-year-old, who was a Premier League champion with Liverpool, and his 25-year-old brother were in their Lamborghini when the car lost control in the province of Zamora. It veered off the road, hit the road barriers, and was engulfed in flames.

The footage was published by the newspaper Diario de Castilla y León.

According to initial information provided by authorities, the two were traveling towards Madrid when the vehicle went off the left side of the road shortly before reaching Benavente and then caught fire. Both young men were burned beyond recognition.

Born in Porto, Jota began his football career in the youth academy before transferring to Atlético Madrid in 2016. He then joined Wolverhampton Wanderers before becoming part of Liverpool, where he stood out as one of the Premier League’s most dangerous forwards.

At the international level, he was a member of the Portuguese national team and contributed to their success in the UEFA Nations League, winning the trophy in both 2019 and 2025.
