“Did I just get shot by an AR-15?” – Charlie Kirk’s frightening old post becomes reality 11 years later

An old Twitter post from conservative activist Charlie Kirk is resurfacing online following his fatal shooting during a public event in Utah.

Kirk, 31, was shot dead on Wednesday evening (September 10) while holding a debate at Utah Valley University, as part of his political organization Turning Point USA. The incident occurred just 20 minutes after he began his speech, in front of an audience of nearly 3,000 people.

In amateur videos released shortly after the attack, Kirk can be seen collapsing in his chair as the crowd erupts in panic. Eyewitnesses at the scene described moments of fear and complete chaos.

“We all dropped to the ground. We stayed like that for about 30 to 45 seconds, then people started running. Nobody knew what was happening,” said Emma Pitts, a journalist at Deseret News.

Following the murder, a 2014 post by Kirk has resurfaced online, in which he wrote with irony:

“Did I just get shot by an AR-15? That’s what it feels like,” he tweeted on June 23, 2014. The post has now gone viral again on X in the wake of the September 10 attack.

Although authorities have not yet confirmed the type of weapon used, speculation points to an AR-15, a semi-automatic rifle widely popular in the United States and often used in mass shootings. An estimated 25 million are believed to be in the hands of American civilians.
